Refreshed ATK take on Jameshedpur FC at the Furnace

After suffering two back-to-back defeats at the start of the season, ATK are upbeat after registering their first victory against Delhi Dynamos FC the other night and they will look to extend their winning run on Sunday when they take on Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex Stadium.

What’s the team news?

While Andre Bikey has returned to action, Arnab Mondal and SK Faiaz are still recovering from their pre-season injuries. Jayesh Rane had a slight niggle on his ankle, for which he did not start the match against Delhi, but he has recovered. Apart from that, there are no major injury worries in the squad.

How have Jamshedpur FC fared so far in ISL 2018?

It has been only two matches so far, but Jamshedpur have shown promise. They are unbeaten so far having beaten Mumbai City FC 2-0 and drawing Bengaluru FC 2-2. The way they came back against Sunil Chhetri and Co. the other day was quite impressive.

What's our overall record like against Jamshedpur?

The two sides have met two times with Jamshedpur FC holding the edge. While the first match ended in a goalless draw, ATK lost the second leg at home.

What head coach Steve Coppell had to say...

On the match: "Although it has just been two games they (Jamshedpur) have made a solid start. We will be looking to press forward as well. It is a good challenge for us and we will look to pick up three points. Our strategy is to play and win. We have not come here for a draw but only to win,"

On the possible team combination: "I tinkered with a few positions in our previous match. Jayesh had an ankle problem. I chose not to play him from the start. Again, I will take a call on him tomorrow (Sunday). No team has got a fixed XI as it is just the start. You just hope to play your best game and get a good result.

"Balwant is a goal scorer and it was good to see him back on the goal trail. You have to juggle with your foreign players and the domestic players to get the best out of them. We will make some changes tomorrow (Sunday) as well just to get to the optimum from what we have."\

"Komal was excellent on the pitch. As he was not involved for the first couple of games he was a bit tired and I decided to put Jayesh on. It is a close call between those players. But Komal is fresh now, he is comfortable with the ball and we will make a call tomorrow."
